Sophia, a student from Texas, always dreamed of studying Italian culture firsthand but needed the flexibility of online courses. She enrolled in a blended program offering online lessons throughout the year and an on-campus week in Verona each summer.
Her online sessions focused on grammar, conversation, and cultural topics—while the on-campus week let her experience Veronese markets, opera performances, and fresco painting classes in person.
“Walking through Piazza delle Erbe after a lesson about Italian food vocabulary made every word make sense,” Sophia said. “Using Italian with vendors and locals was both thrilling and grounding.”
- Online classes prepare students with vocabulary and context.
- On-campus immersion reinforces learning through lived experience.
- Exchange with peers from different countries creates a rich community.
Sophia now speaks Italian confidently when ordering, traveling, and sharing stories. She believes the integration of online learning with in-person cultural immersion is the secret to her success—and plans to return to Verona next year.
