Luca, a high school junior living outside Palermo, enrolled at Gonzaga Campus where Italian classes are offered both online and on campus. Between virtual lessons and afternoons in real laboratories on campus, his experience bridges worlds.
When studying physics and biology in their modern STEAM labs, Luca enjoyed hands-on experiments on campus. Meanwhile, online courses let him absorb lectures at his own pace and rewatch complex demonstrations.
“On campus I get to see, touch, experiment,” he said. “Online, I can pause and digest, then come back to class having understood more.”
- Interactive laboratories complement virtual theory.
- Green spaces and outdoor learning offer environmental education beyond screens.
- Collaborative online tools help maintain connection with classmates even when remote.
Despite occasional challenges with internet speed, Luca feels the hybrid model captures the best of both worlds: flexibility, community, and depth. He has joined the student-designed Forum Scuola del Futuro to propose further innovations in blended learning.
